Shok Kuan began practising law in Malaysia in 1992. In 1999, she established a boutique law firm in Kuala Lumpur where she focused primarily on property, finance and commercial transactions, including joint venture agreements, franchise agreements and the acquisition of company shares. She acted for clients from Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia. During this time, Shok Kuan established close affiliations with numerous financial institutions, developers and property agencies in Malaysia which continue today.
In 2010, Shok Kuan relocated to Melbourne and worked as an in-house legal counsel with a major Victorian property developer before entering private practice in Melbourne with a well-known firm. She joined Moray & Agnew in mid-2016.
Shok Kuan acts for many Asian-based clients, particularly Malaysian and Chinese developers and investors seeking to invest in Australia. She has been involved in numerous large scale off-the-plan projects acting for these developers. Shok Kuan has also acted for various developers in relation to the acquisition of project sites and due diligence of site acquisitions. Additionally, Shok Kuan works with a significant number of foreign purchasers who are referred through strong recommendations by leading developers in Melbourne.
With over 20 years of experience as a practising solicitor in Malaysia, Shok Kuan brings the insights of her experience in both Malaysian and Australian jurisdictions to the many developer clients and purchasers she advises today.
