Sean has a strong practice in construction and commercial law. He has qualifications in civil engineering, business and law.
Sean has significant experience advising in dispute resolution including litigation, arbitration, adjudication, mediations, expert determination and commercial negotiations generally.
Sean has a strong background and solid experience in litigation in all Courts in New South Wales and Queensland. He has valuable ‘front end’ construction legal experience and regularly reviews and prepares contracts and tender documentation for both private and public sector clients.
He is a certified adjudicator under the NSW Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 and is a senior adjudicator under the ‘Security of Payment’ legislation on the east coast of Australia.
Sean regularly acts for building and construction professionals including architects, engineers, project managers, developers, contractors, sub-contractors and quantity surveyors.
He has acted in multiple construction and building actions involving allegations of defective work, professional negligence and home owners warranty claims for and against contractors, owners and owners corporations.
He provides clients with practical advice regarding payment disputes, adjudication and security of payment legislation generally.
Before joining Moray & Agnew, Sean gained extensive project management and contract administration experience over a period of eight years, working as a project engineer, construction manager and project manager with Hunter Water Corporation and BHP Billiton. He has worked on major infrastructure and resource projects throughout Australia and New Zealand, ranging in value from $1 million to $2.5 billion.
Sean’s engineering and construction background, coupled with his legal experience, enables him to quickly understand the key issues and difficulties affecting clients. This allows Sean to provide prompt, sound and effective legal solutions to assist his clients in meeting their objectives.
